'I, Me, Mine, Myself' is the visual autobiography of a red triangle.
The book tells the history of his origins, his family ('my father was
a point, my mother was a red plane'), his role on Russian revolution in
El Lissitzky paintings and his work on advertising and branding for Nabisco
and HSBC among others.
The book is an exercise on graphic wit, visual jokes and storytelling,
supported by a massive body of research. It comes with a free rubber Tangram.
Idea, text and graphic design by Iván Mato.
Introduction. "Hi. This is my story.
The story of a basic geometric shape. A polygon with three vertices and
three sides which are straight line segments.
A triangle.
More then this, this is the story of a triangle coloured in an additive
primary colour at the highest frequencies of light discernible by the
human eye. A light with a wavelength range of roughly 630-760 Nm.
A red triangle. Is this it?
No.
That will be a boring geometry book or even a borer colour theory book
by an incredibly boring german expert. A ultra-boring book, anyone? Uh?
We all want stories, tales, carnivals, conflicts, laughter, characters,
entertainment, games, jokes, comedy, drama, emotion, idealism, mystery,
surprise, happyendings, joy, kindness, joy, pain... life.
Life. The life of a red triangle.
This is what this book is about"
