'Christmas Card v.2' Spanish
The Spanish Christmas Lottery takes
place every 22nd of December in Madrid. As measured by the total prize
payout, the Christmas Lottery is the biggest lottery worldwide. Two big
spherical vessels are used. One of them contains all ticket numbers. The
other one contains the prizes to be drawn. Pupils of the San Ildefonso
school draw the numbers and corresponding prizes, singing the results
aloud in front of the public. The card text emulates the singing tune
for the number 47.396 and the biggest prize in he draw, called The Fat
(El Gordo). 47.396 happens
to be the number I´ve got this year. Good luck to everyone.

'Galician emigrants v.3.0'
Design
by Iván Mato.
Iván Mato's graphic contribution to 'Entrecruzar',
a publication on Galician identity featuring ninety different graphic
and textual projects by artists, designers and writers. In this piece
about the new generations of galician emigrants who come home for Christmas
no matter how high is the price to pay, airports are the metaphors of
a Galician identity in transit.

Project: 'Paper Fan, A Spanish Souvenir'.
Design

In November 2006, 19 european designers
took part in a 3-day workshop organised in
Brussels by the British Council.
Our brief was to represent our own countries through the medium of the
souvenir. We worked together to produce inventive but achievable prototypes
which combine the traditional and contemporary characters of our home
countries. The British Council produced a calendar featuring the set of
souvenirs.
